Our graduates are much sought after by companies like:

  • CH2M-Hill
  • Advanced Environmental Concepts
  • Granite Construction
  • Golden State Irrigation
  • Frito-Lay
  • Gilroy Foods
  • Kendall-Jackson Winery
  • California Department of Food & Agriculture

From the moment you enter our program, you will be immersed in Cal Poly's hallmark “Learn-by-Doing” process, don't just read about it! Experience for yourself what engineering and management are all about. Projects our students have completed include:

  • The design, construction, and implementation of water control structures and delivery systems.
  • The development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) information for the wise management of natural resources.
  • The conversion of organic waste into methane and electricity.
  • The design and construction of a robotic feed-scraper for a dairy.
  • The design and construction of a hydraulic wheelchair lift to enable handicapped access.

The practical experience you'll gain in our program is recognized and much valued by industry. National averages show that BRAE and Agricultural Systems Management (ASM) graduates typically earn starting salaries about 15% higher than graduates of other agricultural discipline. Cal Poly BRAE and ASM graduates average about 15% higher than that!

The BioResource & Agricultural Engineering Department offers two major degree programs:

Also offered are the following minor programs:

  • Water Science
  • Geographic Information Systems

For graduate students, the BioResource & Agricultural Engineering Department coordinates with the College of Agriculture to offer a Master of Science in Agriculture with a specialization in Irrigation, and with the College of Engineering to offer a Master of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Water Engineering.
