SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The San Luis Obispo County Department of Agriculture is working to implement a California Department of Food and Agriculture restricted quarantine in response to the detection of an adult Asian Citrus Psyllid (ACP) in a San Luis Obispo residential neighborhood.

Cal Poly is located within the quarantine radius and is working closely with the county agricultural commissioner on this matter. Cal Poly has temporarily limited its sales and distribution of citrus produce until the quarantine protocols are fully in effect.

Faculty and staff within Cal Poly’s Horticulture & Crop Science Department, which manages and operates citrus groves on campus, routinely monitor for ACP and other pests and diseases and have rigorous protection protocols in place. Disease and pest control issues are also a core component of the department’s curriculum.

For additional information, please contact the Horticulture & Crop Science Department at 805-756-2279.
