At Cal Poly's College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences "Only the Best" is no idle boast. Our College is the premier undergraduate agriculture program in the nation.

Along with our University motto "Learn by Doing," the words "Only the Best" are very important to us. We already have, and we continue to want, the best students, faculty, staff and programs in agriculture. Because of this, companies constantly pursue our students. There is a tremendous demand for graduates from every discipline in the College, and industry frequently asks us to initiate new programs to meet their ever-changing needs. 

Our students come from urban as well as traditional agricultural areas of the nation. Our diverse educational programs range from global/international agribusiness and hands-on crop protection to the management of forest ecosystems - from the animal sciences and the microbiology of soils to outdoor recreation and agro-tourism - from equipment engineering that precision agriculture requires to food processing and packaging techniques that will help feed the world. Our students are hands-on in the classroom and in their labs, and that gives them a real entrepreneurial feel for getting the job done from the moment they graduate. 

The world of agriculture is changing and our graduates meet the changing needs of the world.
