Dr. David Wehner was named Dean of the College of Agriculture at California Polytechnic State University in April 2002. Prior to this appointment, he served as associate dean since 1997, responsible primarily for the operation of the undergraduate program, including curriculum development, student progress, advising and outreach. He has also worked with many of the college’s 10 departments on staffing, faculty evaluations and operation issues and has directed the college’s Multicultural Agriculture Program Center. He has also been involved with the MESA Agricultural Initiative to introduce agricultural topics into middle and high schools with large numbers of underrepresented students. Before his appointment as associate dean, Wehner served a year in a half-time position as assistant dean, coordinating the college’s graduate program and aiding faculty members with research and public service programs. After teaching at the University of Illinois and University of Maryland, Wehner joined the Cal Poly faculty in 1994 as head of the Environmental Horticultural Science Department and a professor of turfgrass science.

Tanya Kiani was appointed assistant dean of advancement and external relations for the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences in June 2006. She leads all aspects of the college’s fund-raising campaigns, alumni affairs, publicity and industry relations. Prior to her appointment, Kiani directed advancement programs for the College of Architecture and Environmental Design and for the Cuesta College Foundation. She has also served as Cal Poly's director of development for capital projects at the Performing Arts Center. She has been active in the local American Red Cross and the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program, as well as the Cal Poly Alumni Association.

Dr. Pedersen has served as Associate Dean of the College of Agriculture since 2003 and is responsible for overseeing undergraduate programs including curriculum development, student progress and advising, the college's recruiting efforts, and faculty development programs. Dr. Pedersen served as department chair for Food Science and Nutrition from 1995-98 and interim department head from 2002-03 and taught in the areas of clinical nutrition, nutrition in aging, basic nutrition, lipid nutrition, and nutrition in developing countries. In 1992, she was a recipient of the Cal Poly Distinguished Teacher Award. Her training is in the areas of nutrition and lipid biochemistry, specifically lipoprotein metabolism and cardiovascular disease. Her current research interests focus on food security issues in developing countries.

Dr. Shelton has served as Associate Dean of the College of Agriculture since 1997 and is responsible for farm operations, and research and graduate programs. He also acts as a liaison with numerous industry partners for the College and University. Dr. Shelton joined Cal Poly in 1982 as a Crop Science professor, serving as department head in 1996-97. He is a Registered Professional Entomologist with expertise in Integrated Pest Management, apiculture, and insect management. Dr. Shelton also has interests in international agriculture policy and development.

Dr. Dietterick is Director of Swanton Pacific Ranch. He teaches Watershed Management, Watershed Protection, Forest and Range Hydrology, and GIS. His research and consulting interests include water quality monitoring to evaluate Best Management Practices effectiveness, stream restoration, hydrologic modeling, watershed evaluation, and modeling of urban forest ecosystems. Specialties: Watershed Management; Hydrology; GIS.
