CAFES 2017 Student and Faculty Awards

 

Contributions to the Objectives and Public Image of the College - Madison Albiani and Shane Gillard

Madison Albiani represented the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences in many leadership roles during her time at Cal Poly, including serving as CAFES Student Council President, CAFES representative for the ASI Board of Directors and as the ASI University Union Advisory Board representative.

 

Shane Gillard represented the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences through his role as Club Secretary and Publicity Chair for the Agribusiness Management/NAMA Club and as an active membership in the Alpha Zeta fraternity, and Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow. Shane also provided peer-to-peer support to CAFES students as a student research assistant in the library.

 

 

Contributions to the Objectives and Public Image of the University - Jana Colombini

 

Jana’s involvement with the university included serving as student body president of ASI, as an Academic Senate Executive Committee member, and a Athletics Advisory Board member. Jana also served as a part of the University President’s Leadership Council, Cal Poly Foundation Board and on the Cal Poly Local Economic Development Committee.

 

 

Service to the Off-Campus Community - Sasha Greenlee

 

Sasha served the community as co-founder of Doggy Days at Prado Day and as a volunteer with the Global Vision International Mexico Veterinary. Doggy Days at Prado Day is a monthly event that provides complimentary services including vaccinations, wellness checks and medications for pets of homeless community members. Sasha leads a student team for fundraising, coordination of each monthly clinic, communicates with veterinarians, and provides a Learn by Doing experience for student volunteers. Since the opening of the clinics in late 2014, more than 100 animals have been vaccinated and more than 200 wellness checks have been performed.

Beck Outstanding Senior Award - Kelsey Woodson, Animal Science

The Beck Award is given to a senior demonstrating achievement in the three areas of scholarship, leadership, and character.
 

The Louis and Stella Soares Award is given to a junior who demonstrates leadership potential through involvement in extra-curricular activities.
