First Year Students
Fall 2016 Class Schedule
As a first-time freshmen, the university enrolls you in classes for your first fall quarter; we refer to this as your Block Schedule. You will be able to view your schedule in your Student Center on (date TBD).
Your Block Schedule places you into classes chosen by your major department, and Cal Poly makes every effort to consider your academic history (placement exams, AP exam credit, community college credit) when creating your block schedule.

Be sure to attend a mandatory SLO Days Session
During Soar, you will receive the resources to prepare yourself to become a new member of the Mustang family and a successful Cal Poly student. You can look forward to being introduced to numerous campus and community resources, receiving helpful academic tips to ease your transition to your new campus, and familiarizing yourself with the Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo community. Find a date.
- If you cannot attend SLO Days, you must email orientation@calpoly.edu explaining your circumstance, and a representative will be in contact with you with an appropriate course of action.
During Soar, visit your college advising center, meet your academic advisor, and learn about academic advising. Find information about your college advising center and other advising services at Cal Poly here.
Sign up for Week of Welcome (WOW)
The Week of Welcome program, also known as WOW, is a week-long orientation event. WOW provides a thrilling environment for you to meet new people, become familiar with Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo, and prepare to start your college career by interacting with your college academic advisors and faculty.
