As I reflect on this past year’s accomplishments, my thoughts keep circling back to the Spring Commencement ceremony. There is something powerful about watching our students cross the stage with pride as their name is called, knowing that the best is yet to come. Our graduates are empowered to use the knowledge and skills they gained at Cal Poly to create innovative solutions to the challenges we are facing now and will continue to face in the future.

The connections that students make while at Cal Poly will serve as the foundation for their future success. Coupled with the encouragement from their families and the support of Cal Poly’s vast alumni network and industry partners who work alongside us to champion student success, their futures are bright.

In this issue, you’ll read stories about students learning first-hand how to improve sustainability in the grocery sector and about students working directly in enterprise courses immersed in the science of beekeeping and breeding and foaling mares. You’ll also read about a student who has excelled during his time at Cal Poly, seizing the opportunities available to him to thrive.
